3-Day Saadani Adventure Itinerary

3 Days

Overview

Explore Saadani National Park with Shaka Adventure Safari

Saadani National Park is one of Tanzania’s most distinctive wildlife destinations, uniquely combining savannah and marine ecosystems in one location. Covering over 1,100 square kilometers, it is the only national park in East Africa that borders the Indian Ocean, offering a rare opportunity to enjoy traditional game drives, boat safaris, and beach relaxation all in one adventure.

Geographically, the park is located in eastern Tanzania, between Bagamoyo and Pangani, directly opposite Zanzibar, with coordinates ranging from 5°45′ to 6°25′ South and 38°31′ to 39°00′ East.

The landscape is richly diverse, featuring coastal thickets, mangrove forests, open savannah plains, riverine woodlands along the Wami River, and expansive white sandy beaches interspersed with salt pans.

Saadani is home to a wide variety of wildlife; on land, visitors may encounter elephants, buffaloes, lions, giraffes, warthogs, zebras, baboons, mongooses, reedbucks, bushbucks, and the rare Roosevelt’s sable antelope.

In its coastal and marine zones, green turtles nest along the beaches, dolphins are occasionally seen offshore, and the shores host numerous crabs, shellfish, and marine birds.

Birdwatchers can enjoy sightings of over 350 bird species, including mangrove kingfishers, lesser flamingos, fish eagles, and crowned cranes.
